How does the Scheduling Test work?

A comparison is made between your historic planning data and a schedule optimised in VISITOUR.
We ask you to supply your most important objectives and KPIs so that we can take these into account.
This allows you to clearly evaluate the difference in the number of jobs completed, distances travelled, total travel time, SLAs achieved and other KPIs.
Your data and our solution
Beginning with a baseline, your current schedule is imported 1-to-1 into VISITOUR so that the test scenarios can be compared with your own schedule. The results of these tests and the benefits to be gained will be presented back to you in person, and with a PowerPoint you can keep.
Example scenarios that can be used:
Scenario 1
Job assignments are scheduled on the same day as in the basic scenario and all employees retain the same appointments. VISITOUR will only optimise the routes.
Scenario 2
Job assignments are scheduled on the same day as in the basic scenario, but VISITOUR selects the most suitable employee for each assignment based on skills, time, and SLA.
Scenario 3
In this test, only the restrictions on skills and the start and end dates are used. VISITOUR determines itself on which day and with which employee a job assignment is scheduled.

Example 1
Travel distance and travel time
23,111 appointments scheduled in a month with 20 working days and 20 field staff.
- Test 1 results: Planning for efficiency, resulting in a 37% reduction in distance travelled and a 34% reduction in travel time.
- Test 2 results: Planning as many assignments as possible (including assignments that could not be planned in the basic scenario) scheduled in the 20 working days with available field operatives. Leading to a 29% increase in appointments due to shorter travel times. The SLA rate achieved increased to 96.8%.
Example 2
Travel and overtime hours
6,436 assignments are planned for 29 technicians over a period of 21 working days. Technicians work fixed shifts, have a fixed lunch break of 30 minutes and three types of skills.
Targets:
- Reduction in travel time
- Reduction in overtime hours
Baseline: Customer appointments scheduled according to the current planning system
- Test 1: Planning with VISITOUR, where appointments remain on the same day, but the optimal route sequence and resource allocation are applied.
- Test 2: As Test 1, but the date may be adjusted as long as it falls within the SLAs.
Results
- Reduced travel distance of 29.5% in Test 1 and 34% in Test 2.
- Travel time reduced by 25% in Test 1 and 28% in Test 2, roughly a saving of €29,084 / £25,342 in fuel over a period of 31 days, based on a cost of €0.30 / £0.26 per kilometre.
- 31% reduction in overtime in Test 1.
- Reduction in backlog: Additional labour capacity is freed up that can be used to improve compliance with SLAs and/or reduce the backlog by bringing forward future work.
